Keeping frozen pinkies for long periods of time?

sacrifice.theory

is officially addicted.
I ordered some pinkies, 100 actually, and since Dex only eats one or two a week, what are your opinions on keeping them fresh?
I thought about getting the Glad freezer bags, or the vacuum seal bags, but I just wanted to know what you guys have used with success.
:wavey:

Btw, I know the shipping charges are outrageous but since the the only place around here to buy frozen pinks is 45 minutes away, they're 1.29 a SMALL pink, and they're not the best quality, .50 a pink is a steal. :p

Well, what I had planned on doing was getting some small bags to put just one in, and doing that for about 6 of them, and then storing the rest until I need to get more out.
Good idea, maybe?
-scratches chin-
That way I don't have to keep opening the bag over and over.

I'm actually looking at doing about the same thing... but on a little bigger scale. I've got 600 mice coming in (500 fuzzies and 100 pinks). I'll probably leave 100 fuzzies out and 50 pinks out and then repackage and vacuum seal the rest. Same with the adult sized mice I have in the freezer now.

No air, no freezer burn... longer freezer life!

I put them in a ziploc bag, squeeze all the air out, and put them in one of those ziploc lock-n-seal tubs. So far I haven't had any trouble with freezerburn, but then again I breed my own mice, so I can afford to throw out the older pinks when new ones come in.

How long can you keep the mice in the freezer? I've been told that- like frozen vegetables- mice kept in the freezer for a long time can start to lose nutrients that are important to the snake. Is this true? I would rather buy the mice on a smaller scale than risk nutrition of my snake, but it'd be brilliant if I could buy in bulk as I'm going to be living in a place without a frozen mouse seller nearby.
