Keeping them mentally stimulated...

Filovirus

But you can call me Bob..
So a dog you gives toys to... cats like to hunt and explore.. !! what does a snake do.. or is it really happy just sitting there not doing anything...???

What do any of you do to give your snakes a little interest..?? new hides in the viv..?? more braches.. re-arrange the scenery..??

Kellogg (9 month anery corn) went nuts when he got his larger viv... exploring the whole thing... really active... now he doesn't seem to do much.. during the day anyhow..

Corns are naturally quite inactive creatures. After hunting for, catching and eating their food, they just hide away for a few days while they digest. So, there's no pressure to give mental stimulation, not nearly as much pressure as with parrots, anyway. However, some people make special vivs and fill them with branches and things so their snake/s can get regular exercise. That's the closest I've come to mental stimulation in snakes.

Field trip!

Get a cat! My cat sits and stares at the snakes, and they sit and stare back, it's great mental stimulation.:) Or put their tank by a window to see things fly by. I want to get one of those nylon mesh tanks so that in the summer I can tak them out to get some sunlight and smell all those wonderful wisconsin nature smells.... You could just read poetry to them, or children/s books, our favorite is The Day Jimmy's Boa Ate the Wash he he he...Steve Erwin is great mental stimulation, you never know what he's gonna do next:rolleyes:

They don't have very big brains, I think eating and pooping is stimulation enough...

Yeah, I was going to say the same as Missy. They have TINY brains...ssshhh don't let your corns hear you say that though!! ;) I think if you put branches and hides and stuff like that in their vivs it could keep them active but as for mental stimulation...mine seem happy enough trying to escape by burrowing in their plants!
