Those that feed live: Have you ever seen a corn kill the mouse but not eat it?

He killed it, and then wanted out of the feeding container.

That was last week, today I fed him and he tried to strike at it but barely grabbed it and it got away, this happend for a few strikes, then I knocked the mouse out to where it couldnt move and he wasnt interested in it, he just wanted out of the container.

He hasnt ate in about 3 weeks.

Is this normal? Does it mean he is stressed?

I feed live pinkies, fuzzies, rat pinks and rat pups, but I know which will eat them. If your snake was fed a live mouse (hopper, weaned, feeder size) the mouse may have niped your snake and scared it. So you may have to stun or kill future prey. I had a hamster fuzz bite my snake while he was consricting, he was shy of food for a while.

You should never feed snakes anything bigger than a large mouse fuzzy or small rat fuzzy...the risk of bites and infection just isn't worth it, let alone the risk of losing eyes etc etc.

But yes, I have had a snake kill a fuzzy and not eat it.

My big guy is a tempramental feeder but he eats freshly killed or stunned prey...I don't toss completely live/lucid mice in for him...

we feed defrost over here. but sometimes my super cinny will grab the mouse and constrict, then go off and leave it!!!!
