King snake in my yard today...

I found a really nice King snake in my yard today next to my house. He was about four feet long. I didn't bother him and I'm really glad to have him nearby. Could explain why I don't see field mice, moles or Copperheads.
I showed him to my three year old son and he immediately recognized it as a King since he loves to visit the Cali King at Petsmart every chance he gets.

That's kewl! We see them every so often around here... but we do see LOTS of rodents. Guess we need more kings!

Congrats!

That's cool!
We have alot of kings around here also.. my stepdad actually killed 4 foot Eastern King,
and he thought it was venomous, he wasn't familiar with any snakes up here since
we moved up here in NC. I kept tellin' him not to kill ANY snakes, but he still do it.
He recently killed a watersnake here and mistakely thought it was a water moccsin but there is no water moccsin around in my area. Sorry for my spelling.

Cool! We get lots of them out where I live too. I am finding myself constantly saving the Cal Kings & Pacific Gophers from witch hunters, i.e., ignorant neighbors. I cringe every time I hear, "Oh you'll never guess- I killed a baby rattler today in my yard." It always turns out to be some poor gopher snake. Sheesh. Get a book people! They live here too.
