Laying boxes...just curious...more

Melinie

Once Bitten, Less Shy...
I'm just curious as to how long other breeders leave the laying/nest boxes in with their females AFTER they have finished laying their eggs? (With eggs having been removed to an incubator box.)
I read somewhere a LONG time ago, that one should leave the box with the female for a week. So, that's what I've always done.
Let me know what YOU usually do, and how you feel it benefits your snakes.
Thanx!

I take mine out immediately, and I have never seen any ill effects. However, I would be interested to see some reasonig for doing otherwise.

I have two females that laid eggs

for the first time a week and two weeks ago. They stayed in their nesting boxes until they had their post-lay shed. Then they returned to their normal hide boxes. I thought that staying in the nesting box would help with the shed.

Laying boxes........

I leave my laying/hide boxes in year round. It serves as a hide box and a humidity chamber in one. It also makes a nice feeding platform that keeps them up off the substrate while they feed. I don't have to worry about where I'm going to store all of those boxes while not in use either.
