laying eggs in water?

Scrufdog

that one guy
Just a small concern I thought I'd throw out there.

Orihime is 5 days post shed, fat and happy. I currently refer to her as a snausage (snake sausage).

Anyway, last year, after noticing that she would constantly coil up in her water bowl, I took out the bowl and siliconed in a divided and made a 3 gallon pool for her. She loves swimming in almost daily. The problem, is that she also only poos in her pool. Seeing as this is her first ever clutch, you dont think she might get confused and start popping eggs into her pool do you? She's swimming around a little right now which made me think of that.

Corns have been known to lay in their water bowls which is why when it is close to laying time most folks switch to smaller water dishes until after the eggs are laid. You may want to block off the pool and give a small water dish to be safe.

sounds like I should drain it down to about an inch and shut off the pump. I'll add another bowl in there too. Thanks

Ya

Use a tiny water bowl and make a nest with moist moss,if she lays in the water bowl the eggs wont be good.

She has a moss nest in there already. She's been in and out of it for the past week.

I'll just drain the pool and put the water bowl at the bottom.

I just remove the water dish altogether several days after the prelay shed. That eliminates any chance of eggs been laid in water.

i just finished draining the pool and putting in the dish. I'll give it a couple days and maybe remove it.

I cant really feel individual eggs, maybe I'm doing it wrong. What part of her sides should I concentrate on?

Run your thumb down her belly. You can feel each individual egg.

Yeah, I could never feel eggs from the sides on Brass I had to gently but firmly hold her with my thumb pressing to her belly while she slid through my hands to be able to feel her eggs. Remember, very gently or you might hurt her.

gotcha. I'm always gentle with my snakes... even when my ball python occasionally tries to choke me out while she's chilling around my neck.
