Leaving shed skin in cage

I'm about to go on vacation and my corn is about to shed. How dangerous/harmful would this be to have it left in the cage until I'm able to get back (about 2 and half weeks)? Thanks.

It's not dangerous at all. I'd be more concerned about 2 and a half weeks without a water change, unless you already have plans for that.

That's my main concern, too. I have one person who may be able to look after my snake (supposed to be coming back from college). If not, I've been looking around for some kind of flowing water reservoir thingymajig. If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it.

Waterfall waterbowls are used pretty often in petshops when they are closed over the holidays they allow the bowl to fill up when its been empty, rather like a birds waterbowl, there not that expensive, the only problem would be fresh water, the water would be still for your whole time of holiday therefor the water will not be very good for your snake, maybe you have a local petstore that will look after him? i know the place i got Damien from does holiday petcare, they ask for a small donation and the price of food for your snake, not sure if your local petshop does this but its worth asking : )

I thought about that, but I'm weary about stagnant water collecting bacteria and such. Anyone recommend?

I'd at least put two really heavy water bowls in opposite corners- that way, if one gets pooped in, there will still be the other. Then if you can get a friend to change the water at the halfway point- that wouldn't be too bad.

I wonder if a snake could drink from a rabbit water bottle? Birds can learn how to do it.

I was wondering the same thing, it would be an interesting thing to find out.

Water shouldn't get bacteria in to the water or be able to grow unless organic matter falls in it (substrate, poop or shed), I use really big water bowls with my corns and they often don't get changed for up to 3 weeks and the water still smells just fine and I've had no health problems. For that long of a check it would be good to have someone come in once a week or so just to check and maybe change the water.

I also put grapefruit seed extract in my animals' water bowls. It inhibits bacterial growth and I'm also relatively sure I read about it on Kathy's site as something she uses as a supplement to prevent regurges. I've used it for years with my ball pythons so when I got into corns I started using it for them too. No problems so far!

I think two large bowls should be fine if you don't have anyone to come change it. I've gone nearly two weeks before and the snakes did just fine.
