Light wattage

What wattage of light is good to use for daylight for a corn ?
I'm not talking heat lamps just normal lighting?
that may be a silly question but i'm a newbie

If you just want light and not heat I'd go with a flourescent tube. They last longer and are more efficient than a normal incandescent bulb. Plus, bulbs of even 20-15W can raise the cage temp 15 degrees directly under the light.

depending on the time of year, I either use 40W or 25 W in my 36in x 28 in x 18 inch vision cages. These do contribute to the temperature of the cage though. I did originally use just fluorescents for lighting, but switched over to incandescents to get heating/basking benefits too.

I don't use any lights just for lighting. If the light through the room window(s) is bright enough to read by, it's fine for the snake. You don't even want sunlight shining into the cage.

You do not "need" any kind of lighting. If you wish to have a light for night time viewing or for additional heat, use a 60w red heat bulb available at most pet suppliers (in the US anyways). Place it about 8 to 12 inches above the top of the viv'. This will light up the viv' and still focus the heat towards one end. It also allows you to fine tune your temps. by slightly adjusting the light up and down.
