hi i just wondered, i have just bought a 2.0 daylight tube for my viv (snow corn) when would be best times for turning it on and off??? is it better on during day or at night???

i dont have a certain timer for mine (you can buy them tho and put them on 12 hour cycles) i just turn mine off when i go to bed sincei cant sleep with light.. and turn them on as i awake :) same with my beardie heat lamp ect.

Corn snakes are primarily nocturnal, meaning they are MOST, active at night, but are often active in early evening as well.

I could be wrong ( hopefully someone will correct me if I am ) but with night time being their natural active time, it would suggest they prefer to be out when it is dark.

To run the light at night would seem to be counter productive in that case. Some folks use night time bulbs in their viv's for night time viewing, and that would still provide you viewing pleasure, without harsh lighting and would give you the ability to sleep with the light on.

Most folks suggest 8-12 hours of light a day for corns. Pick Up Bill & Cathy Love's Corn Snake Manual, it has all the info you could ever want, is superbly written. :wavey:

I have 2 kinds of light bulbs, A day time one(which I leave on in the morning) and a night bulb( for when I go to sleep, and for feeding) Those work fine with my corn, and he does come out when I put the night light on for him(night light meaning night time heating bulb) Hope that help in some small way! And good luck! :D

I have florescent lights on my corn's vivs. I keep the timers set to normal sunrise and sunset times. Check your local paper. :D
