Ok i have searched the forum and found alot of info on lighting but im still a bit confused about the right kind..I have an uth for heat and im simply looking for some sort of light source for the 12 hour daylight cycle..Right now im using a clamp lamp on the outside of each cage with a 60 watt daylight blue bulb set on a 12 hour timer..the bulbs are about 6-8 inches off the top of the tanks..they are uva lights..should i switch to flourescent for this or will these be ok to use ??

thanks for the website ..and yeah diamondil ive read the same..im not sure thats why i figured id ask and get a few opinions thanks

Sadly since I am in the UK it won't be much use to you but it shows you what I mean and that you can pick them up fairly cheaply.

I use aquarium strip lights with flourescent bulbs in them. They don't produce much heat and are easier on the energy bill.

It has long been debated that UV lights damage corn's eyesight, but I don't think there have been any studies proving or disproving this. Since corns hide most of the day anyway, I personally don't think it to be that much of a problem.
