Lighting

I know lighting is not essential for a corn , but for just viv lighting what should i use?
Not for heating. Ive looked into reptile lights at my petshop but they all emit high uvb.

if you just want light your room light should be plenty. lamps and reptile bulbs are all for heating and uvb basically.

I use these submersible aquarium lights- Hagen Marina Micro L.E.D. lights.
They come in blue (simulates moonlight) white, green and red (nocturnal viewing). The have suction cups so you can stick them anywhere inside the viv. and they are adjustable (up and down) so you can direct the light where you want it. You can buy the "hub" which lets you connect up to 3 of the micro lights to one power switch.
I have 2 micro lights in my viv now (blue and green) and have them on opposite corners, it looks cool and Annie my anery (sp?) absolutely loves the lights. I will turn off all the lights in the room and turn on the micro lights and Annie will come out to investigate usually within 5 min. of turning the micro lights on!
I will try to get a pic of the viv lit up, I tried when I first got the lights, but my cheapo camera could not take a decent pic without a flash.

Do you use these for daytime viewing? I have been meaning to get some red ones for at night but never got around to it yet ( which is why there isn't anything on my site about them). I never thought they would be bright enough for day time viewing. Are they?

It's not as dramatic as at night, you can see the lights on the substrate (I use aspen bedding) during the day, the center of the "beam" is pretty bright and it shows up on what it's pointed at, but it doesn't have the "glow" that fills the viv, like at night (or in a dark room).
Hope this helps in your decision.

Here are two pics if the micro lights during the day, remember though, the flash of the camera took alot of the "intensity" of the lights away by making the viv much brighter than it normally would be during the day.
