ha i was wondering if some one could help me on lighting i thought of just a red bulb would that be ok

It really depends on the use. If you want just light, without heat, I would recommend a flourescent bulb. If you are using it as the only heat souce, that is another issue entirely. Can you give us more details?

Are you using an under tank heater as well, or just heat from bulbs. If you are using a undertank heater, there is not any need for a heat lamp. If you are just looking for just light, you can use a full- spectrum flourescent tube on top of the aquarium (check local newspaper for daylight times. I use 14 hours on in summer. 14 hours off in winter.). If you are not using an undertank heater, you can use either just heat lamps, or heat lamps and flourescents. I beleive there is some controversy over the benefits of full spectrum light for corns, but it certainly won't hurt!Exo Terra has these great little handbooks which recommend combinations of light/heat fixtures for corns.Hope this could help at least a little bit.!

I will save you the hassle of buying an exoterra handbook. Heres what it suggests. It suggests that for heat lamps use a Day Glo Neodymium daylight lamp, and a night glo moonlight lamp. I beleive that you could use a heat coil, instead of the need for 2 lamps. If you are looking for a type of light bulb, which will provide adequate lighting but not heat, it recommends the Repti Glo 2.0 Daylight terrarium lamp. Hope i helped a little!;)
