Lilly's Gravid Again!!!

What's a Tumblrina?

Technically it describes female users of Tumblr (though I tend to lump all genders under the term) who are far left extremes of your definition of liberals, particularly when it comes to social issues. I mean, I'm pretty much a liberal and I think these people are totally psycho. You may also see them described as "social justice warriors" or SWJs.

This guy has some entertaining comics of many of the Tumblrisms you'll find these people spouting off. Lots of NSFW language and topics ahoy: http://plebcomics.tumblr.com/tagged/comics

Back on topic: Lilly is finally staying in her laybox with just her head sticking out for the past 8 hours or so.

Hope she's ready because the anticipation is driving me nuts!!

That picture is just too damn cute! Best wishes to your little mama.

Actually, it sounds like TOO MANY of my former and current colleagues! If they only KNEW me, I mean REALLY, I would PROBABLY have to resign from 3 out of 4 of the places I work!! (I HAVE TO be a chameleon in my line of work, as my somewhat contradictory libertarian values will have me branded as a Nazi or Fascist, a common kneejerk reaction of the ultra-left. I've found that extremism on either part, left OR right, is virtually the same as being close-minded!).

Thanx for this, wish I saw it earlier!!!!! Those comics are actually hilarious! I think I'll print some out and slip them under the doors of certain co-workers just to be a real bastard!!! LOL!!!!

Thanx Dollysmom!! Glad you liked it. But I don't know why they often get turned sideways after uploading! I'll get the hang of it sooner or later. I know I don't spend much time researching stuff like that, but time is rather precious!!

Lilly in Laybox but not Laying Eggs!

Weird question but one that is ON TOPIC:

I have read that gravid snakes will sometimes go in and out of their layboxes which just indicates that they aren't ready. I have also read instances where they will go in and out and then lay their clutch everywhere BUT in the box.

Lilly has been partially submerged in her humid sphagnum moss for over 24 hours with just the top of her dome peaking out of the hole. It actually looks cute. But she's not laying nor is she in labor (doesn't have that thousand-yard, zombie-like stare they get when laying).

My concern is that she might be susceptible to an RTI from laying 3/4 under that humid moss for so many hours straight.

Should I be concerned about this? Or am I just a worry-wart when it comes to my little sneaky ones?

Breathe, Axis. Lilly knows what she needs.
...How's your blood pressure doing? I wish I could send you a hug.

I keep humid hides with sphagnum for my snakes in shed and 24/7 in the winter when the house humidity drops. Not one has gotten a respiratory infection. Dampness is not the only factor, so is cold. I agree that they know what they need and go where they need to go. The fact that her head is out of the moss means that is where she can breathe the way she needs to breathe.

See I'm the one saying the long way rambling what DLena said so succinctly this time. However, I did want to give another data point.

It's kind of like when my snakes go in their cool hides the day after eating. I scratch my head; but hey, they know what they need and as long as I've given the them good places to go they will chose where they need to be.

Thanx guys (gals!)!!!

Appreciate it! But DLena's right! Only I really don't need a hug, I was thinking of a couple of Xanax!!! (Oh, DAMN! Forgot. Not allowed. This recovery thing really sucks sometimes!).

By guess what? As soon as I read your posts, I went in to check on her and guess what I discovered? 9 eggs, all stuck together underneath her, poor baby looks so exhausted! I picked her up and held her over a fresh water bowl where she drank for 3 minutes straight!!!! I'm gonna let her rest up and then I'm gonna give her a small mouse!

(Pix to follow! I hope they are right-side up!)

They look really large compared to the 19 in her first clutch!

What a trooper Lilly is! Those eggs are absolutely perfect. Is Lilly resting well now? Are you?

Thanx for the kind words, not to mention your continuing support!

Good think I caught that she was prego in the first place! (Kinda felt suspicious after she refused her third mouse since 6/8, at which time I had given her two! I was kinda playin' catch-up, since she went from 484grams down to the low 300's; but she was just 381 prior to that second clutch!).

I took for granted how much mating & breeding takes outta the female. As usual, the male has his fun and doesn't have to worry himself anymore! But that HAS to take a toll on Lilly, and I didn't go the brumation route either. Must be from healthy eating and the fact that she was cohabbed for so long!

Well, you'd have thought I'd have relaxed, right? But my nearest pet store had a freak accident with their freezer and lost all of their frozen mice (gotta make alternate plans for day-olds NOW!), so I immediately took a run (literally!) to Petland which was a 3 mile round-trip and running in 90 degree heat kinda sucks when you're in the inner-city, but I made it back with 4 small mice before they thawed out! I'll begin by giving her 1 in the morning.

No rest for the tightly-wound! (My wife can just have a glass of wine! But I hadda go and be an addict! Which means, if I did have just ONE, you MIGHT not hear from me anymore!! So it's safer this way!!).

At least I have skydiving!!! I'll relax after I jump 5 or 6 times tomorrow!!! (Holiday weekend should make for some colorful dives over the next few days!!).

Please don't go splat. I'd like to go to the White Plains Repticon and hope you and any others???? Would be there.

No, I don't PLAN on going SPLAT!! (Ya never know, but it wouldn't be any fun if there wasn't a chance of croakin, no? Besides, we're ALL circling the drain anyhow!! LOL!). The ONLY guarantee is that I WILL LAND!!!! :uhoh:

But I REALLY do wanna go to that expo on 7/24. Problem is, I had some prior engagements planned; am working on getting out of it and will or should know by the end of next week!

Will let you know! It would be nice to meet someone from this forum!! :crazy02:

I hope Lilly is feeling better soon. I love the pics. She's a beautiful girl. Good luck with all the eggs.
