She absolutley shredded her last shed and upon trying to take off some of the excess skin i noticed she has what i can only dexcribe as a squeek.
Never had this problem before... anyone know what it cuold be?
Little panicked just now.

How did you take off the skin? I have used my 'snake-o-sauna' on the occaisions when there have been tail tips left on. It's a lunchbox with holes in the lid, with a wet flannel in the bottom, works a treat

Im not bothered about the skin.
Cause im assuming that was to low humidity.Which i have moved the water closes to the warm side. and a warm bath then run through a towel

but the squeek? ive never herad her do that before. She is also pretty cold and seems to be spending alot of time in her hide on the cold side instead of the warm.

you are saying the snake squeaked ???? maybe it was your shoes or something else that happened at the sametime ... or air out of the mouth/cloaca ... Ok I am just guessing .... I havent heard of this .... :shrugs:

A flatulent snake?? Never heard of that before, but heck why not eh?
Sorry I can't add anything helpfull.

I don't know about a "squeak", but I've had a snake that had a really horrible shed and she made sort of a clicking/ticking noise when she breathed. It was mainly because part of the shed and a scab had formed around her nose area and obstructed her breathing. If there is skin left around the nose on yours that could be the problem. If that's the case, getting that skin off should fix it. Just use a damp papertowel, washcloth, or something like the method mentioned above to get the skin moist and then let her slither around through it until the remaining parts of the skin come off.

You sure it wasn't a hiss?
Maybe she didn't like you messing with her stuck - on skin. They don't like it when you 'peel' them, and you can also cause injury that way so it's better to let them crawl through damp paper towels. I've heard snakes hiss pretty loud before especially if they are not pleased about being picked up or something. Usually it's just a 'pffft' sound, but a couple of times I have heard a very faint squeak when they hiss vigorously.
Or maybe you do just have a gassy snake lol, what have you been feeding those mice?

i know this thread is months old, but i went to pick up monty earlier and he "squeaked," but he only squeaked when i touched him so i'm hoping that it isn't respitary problems, and he is due for a shed any time soon, i think it may be some fault i have with the humidity in my "new" bigger tank, but i havn't yet aqquired a hygrometer, any help is apprieciated

going to add a "moist hide" now

thnx

I'd just keep an eye on him if he is getting ready to shed. Many of my snakes make odd noises when they are in shed. I believe it comes from the skin around their nostrils and mouth loosening. I have one that "sneezes", one that clicks, and one that pops.
