Do what with the who now?
Hey guys,

I'm writing a marketing plan (mock) as part of my university coursework for a livefood company based in the UK. I'm attempting to seek out how important it is to those that buy livefood where what they are buying comes from.

Basically I want to find out how many people in the hobby would be more likely to buy livefood from a particular supplier if they knew that it was produced on site and not sourced from an outside larger distributor.

This is genuine, I'm not someone attempting to start up a company or anything, just trying to show that I've done the research for my assignment, and also to make sure that part of the proposed marketing plan would appeal to the market.

I'd appreciate if anyone could take the time to do the poll and/or let me know your opinions on it.

Just so you know, the livefood from this company is around the same price, if not cheaper than other suppliers.

Thanks in advance,

Lynda

I won't feed live unless I have NO CHOICE, but if I had to do so to save an animal's life, I would want to see where it came from!

I mean insects. That's why I posted this in the general chit chat section and not feeders. Sorry for the confusion.

Ah, how neat! Good idea for research. Is there any way to edit the title of your thread to reflect it deals with insects? Many people here have strong opinions about feeding live mice (mainly that its bad) and may also confuse this thread as Betsy and Dinah did. I also thought it was about mice...so you may get more and better people in your poll if you put that it deals with insects, not rodents. By better, I mean people who keep reptiles that use insects, or who have bought/regularly buy insects.:)

Have changed it (thanks goodness I'm a contributor!). I'm against feeding live too so panicked a bit when I saw that everyone thought that was what I was talking about. Hope the title change helps.

That's ok, I'll take it into account when I'm using the results. Anyone know anywhere I might be able to post this and get a better response? I won't be able to use the information very well if the sample is too small. Thanks.

I still voted yes because if I do have to feed live I would prefer to see where I am getting it from. So even though I didn't understand at first my vote shouldn't mess up your stats at all.

Good luck on your assignment!

Perhaps I should explain further. What I'm trying to find out is that if you were to buy from an online supplier, would you be more likely to buy from a supplier that you know breeds their own insects and can prove this? Rather than one that takes the order and buys from a large wholesaler. The idea behind it is that because it is difficult for reptile goods suppliers to differentiate themselves, and with the recent trend in customer focus on organic, fresh food etc, is this transferable upon the food that people would buy for their animals? Eek, this has become more confusing...
