Am sitting and wondering how I could make my oldest corn snake's terrarium more interesting for us both, and came to think of live plants.

But I'm still unsure as to what plants would be safe for Ravvie(my corn snake) to hide in, which would you experienced snake owners recommend?

And how long I ought to have the same plantsubstance(dirt) in the pots? When does it generally go bad? (yes, I'm quite obviously very knew to having plants in my room :) )

I would go with fake plants as well. Most houseplants require much more light then your snake does. If you've got enough light to make the plants happy then it may cause problems for the snake (overheating comes to mind) Also damp soil will attract fungus, bugs etc. You may also have too high of humidity from the live plants. A cranky houseplant looks bad.

Fake plants on the other hand, always look good, require no light, no water and can be easily washed/disinfected. If the snake squishes them, you can always refluff it which is hard to do with a live plant. Fake plants are also cheaper.

I've come to the conclusion that the fake one's will most likely be the better ops and the branches that are inside now mom found not too long ago.
Though I might start a viv sometime when there's more room ^^

And I LOVED those links diamondlil! They answered a bunch of questions that I did have =)
