Longwood Gardens

Eriathiel

Short and Sweet
Last Friday I had the opportunity to open up Longwood Gardens at 6:30 in the morning. The Library I work for held an event called "Literacy Heroes" and if you are interested to know what that is about you can find more information here.
It was very exciting and we had some wonderful speakers including Lisa Scottaline and Dick Vermeil. I got to meet both of them (I was more excited to meet Dick Vermeil - his Superbowl ring is AWESOME). After all was said and done I got to wander around Longwood Gardens so I figured I'd share a couple pictures! I don't have them all with me so I will have to add more pictures later. Most of these are in the "Conservatory" a HUGE greenhouse where the event was held! I swear if I ever have the money someday I'll build something similar to this ...

Wow! That must've been awesome. Those are some spectacular pics. Congrats on getting to meet the superbowl stud! (I honestly don't know who that is lol!) I'll bet that after the excitement wore off, it was very relaxing and refreshing. Thse closet thing that we have to that here is the Desert Botanical Gardens, which spectacular (if you are in a desert kind of mindframe) but its only really at its peak for a few months a year.

Thanks for sharing the pics with us!

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures!

It was VERY relaxing and refreshing. I could live in the Conservatory for the rest of my life! It put everyone in a good mood. The oxygen level perks people up too I'm told!

As for not knowing who Dick Vermeil is... goodness. Well he's a very nice guy. If you have seen the movie "Invincible" with Mark Walberg he's the coach the story line is based off of (of course the movie isn't entirely accurate, Vermeil saw a video of Papale paying football and that's how he invited him to try out for the Eagles...)

Great pictures! I went to Longwood Gardens once in the Winter, it was goregous. I need to go in the spring/summer when the plants outside are blooming.

I will be going again this summer for sure! The boyfriend actually expressed interest in going too.

Those are incredible photo's. If I was rich I would definitely have something built like that too. It looks very natural for an indoor garden. As for who Dick Vermeil is, he was most recently the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, before Herman Edwards took over in 06', and he was the coach of the Super Bowl Champion St.Louis Rams in 99'. I don't know much about him personally, but he seems like a really nice guy, and was definitely a player's coach!.

When we first moved to the US we lived in Delaware for 4 months. I loved Longwood Gardens. It has been about 12 years since we were there but I still remember how lovely it was. How lucky to be there early in the morning without a lot of people around!
