i want to get a red/blue no heat or very low heat light to put over the viv for night time viewing. i have a uth so i dont want to over heat the viv. just something small so we can observe the viv at night.

I would think something similar to a fishtank lighting system would work well. I don't know what kind of setup you have but if you have your snake in a tank with a screen top you could always just put the light ontop of that to use at nite. Just a suggestion.

its a 20g. im just getting it set up. i made a canopy top and bottom stand out of pecy (sp) cypress. i think its turning out really nice. ill post some pics when its done. hopefully tonight.
i really need to fugure out a good low heat light source though.

If you don't need a whole lot of light, you might consider going with an LED light that's made to be a 'moonlight' for a fish tank. I don't have them on my fish tank, but as I understand it, they put out no heat at all and use very little power. Here's a link to one in red. They also come in white and blue too.

Red LED light

You might use white for daytime viewing and red for nighttime.

Hope that helps!

The LED lights that were suggested would be a good idea as they produce no heat. But if you wanted to you could invest in a very inexpensive 40 watt colored bulb that you can get at any hardware store. You could get red or black without a problem. As it being only a 40 watt bulb it will produce minimal heat. Do you have a Rheostat/Thermostat on your UTH? If you do, and you should, it will self regulate your UTH if there were to be any significant heat increases caused by the addition of the new bulb. I would make sure you place the bulb over the warm end as to still ensure a moderate heat gradient from one end of the tank to the other. Hope this helps.
