loooong time to shed

tradernick

Just another Florida guy
So my '07 corn Mouser has always gone blue, then clear, then shed...the whole process taking maybe 6 days. This time Mouser was in blue on 4/10 and now, 12 days later still no shed! Further, he's been in his hide pretty much round the clock since then. This morning he's out and moving around so I'm guessing the shed is imminent. I'm not worried, I just think it's interesting that it took so much longer this time. I misted the viv a couple of times, just for good measure.
Anyone else seen sheds take this long before?

Nick

Hi, I'm new to this forum.

I am not experienced, but I wanted to reply b/c this very thing just happened with my '07 corn snake. She had shed religiously at about once a month, taking less than a week to stop eating and shed. She last ate Apr 2nd then didn't shed or eat until Apr 20th. I was so worried about her. We(I have 3 kids) were so relieved when she finally shed Sunday morning. She ate that afternoon...finally!

I'd also love to hear from experienced corn snake owners about this occurrence. Is it normal? Is there anything to worry about?

I'd be really interested to hear the response to this thread coz I'm having EXACTLY the same thing happen........my snake sheds nearly exactly every 5 weeks, goes into blue then clear then about 2/3 days later sheds..........yet shes been clear for 5 days!! so all in all from beginning to now has been in shed for 8/9 days when normally it would take less than a week.....I'm hoping she'll shed tonight if not I might start getting concerned because she must be hungry poor thing lol.

Just as I suspected, I came home today to a freshly shed Mouser :) Don't sweat the extra time, despite our great intentions, being a doting owner isn't necessary. Snakes shed at their own speed, and have been doing so long before there were snakekeepers.
