Lost Baby Corn Snake

ILoveGreen

Down to 2 Corn Snakes!

Hi everyone.
I wanted to get a new container for the last baby snake from my 07 clutch(That is already sold and just waiting to be shipped to CA) because I wanted to put my new snake in that container that matched the rest of them(all the babies I kept). I found these really cool container that snapped down on the sides and were very sturdy and pretty clear....well I forgot to snap down one of the side!.so now she(Dark Normal Baby) is gone!

I already know most of the tricks....but with the fact that we are doing spring cleaning and have all these boxes of stuff that we are going through all over and I live in a super old building(with a gap under the apartment door and radiator and pluming holes) who knows where she could be. Luckily my boyfriend was filling some holes last week but didn't get to every one.

I'm going to leave a pinky out tonight sense it's feeding day.

I feel so bad that she got away! I feel bad for the snake and for my friend in CA who was going to give this snake to a friend of hers. I've been waiting forever for the weather better and now that it is I have no snake to ship her. I'd almost feel better if it was a snake that I was keeping that got away instead of hers.

I was going to post pics but photobucket is being weird so I will later.

Sorry to hear about this! Make sure to look extra hard in the areas around the viv, they prefer not to stray far from what I gather. I lost Freyja in a tree (emphasis on IN lol) recently and returned two days later to find her sitting on the brach next to the hole she went into. Best of luck. ;)

I am so sorry for what happened. Leaving out a mouse is a great idea. Maybe you should look in the warmest rooms. I hope you find your snake.

I hope you have luck finding her. I know what it's like to find a snake missing when it should be in its tank. I have had 4 go that way including my baby, Gaia.

I'm not psychic or anything, but when I read the title to your thread I got a real feeling that you're really sad and feel guilty. Sorry you lost your snake, I hope it turns up.
Good luck,
Holly

Sorry to hear about your escapee :( Hopefully she'll be one to be found. Our first escapee never showed up, even though we tried everything. The second one (a full sibling, but different clutch) was found within minutes... she had crawled through a tiny hole near the power cord and was curled in the middle of my floor lamp :)

my corn got loose once so i put his water basking dish in the floor when i woke up the next morning for work sure enough there he was in his dish hope you find yours.

I left a pinky out in her tub(lid off of course) on the floor. I figured maybe she would eat and then burrow or I could only wish! Well the pinky was gone and so is the snake! I did some rearranging in the room and I'm still going through things and putting them into plastic tubs(snake proof haha)....hope I find her soon because now I have 13 eggs from her mom to worry about. :)

At least you know she's still alive (unless you have an unidentified snake living in your house) :D I put the pinkies out and they never moved an inch :(

Put another pinky out like you did but put a light dusting of baby powder or flour around the tank and floor so you can see where she goes. Make sure it's heavy enough that she'll leave a trail through it.

Are you sure she isn't just hiding in one of the tank decorations? Sometimes they are hollow. It just seems weird to me the snake would come back to the tub, eat, and then leave again :shrugs:

i don't know if you've tried searching at different times for the snake -- specifically at night? I lost a hatchling and was searching for her, put down tape balls, etc and i decided to look at night when the house is dark w/ a flashlight --- we found her chilling in the bathtub at 11pm.

You just can't forget that they're nocturnal and coldblooded-- another snake that escapped was found right next to my bf's saltwater tank stand which is always pretty warm.

Thankyou all for you comments and help :)! I just love this site.

I didn't even think of the baby powder thing! Good one....don't know why I didn't remember that.

I didn't really have any decore in the tub besides a couple tp rolls and the little water dish. I dumped it all out and made sure she for sure wasn't in there.

I have searched every night(when I get up to pee haha) with the flashlight but no luck yet.

I put a bunch of tp rolls under and round the radiator......cought a few crickets but no snake :(

Thanks again everyone:crazy02:

Awww that's sad..sorry.

I am so happy she at least ate! It had to be her because I live down town 2 blocks from lake michigan in an upstairs apartment building so I'm sure there arn't any snakes around here......big spiders though!

haha my BF said maybe some mice came and took the pinky away to be barried proberly....what a nut!:crazy02:
