First, get rid of the sand. Corns don't live on sand and it can irritate their skin and make shedding hard. Second, if you don't have it already, buy Kathy & Bill Love's "Corn Snakes The Comprehensive Owner's Guide" and read it cover to cover. You'll need to get a thermostat to help control the temperature and make sure you know what to do if your snake regurges (throws up). Good luck and let us know when you get a new little critter!

I don't mean to be rude, so don't take this post the wrong way, but it is very obvious that you did next to no research before you bought the snake.

What were you doing buying an animal even if you didn't even know what "ground" it needed? Sand is dangerous for snakes due to impaction, and basic reading could have told you that. You should be using aspen shavings, or newspaper/paper towel.

What were your temperatures? If you don't know, you need to know. Guessing isn't good enough. Your snake wants 70-75F cool side, 80-85F warm side. He may have regurged because he was too cold or too hot.

I suggest you do a lot more research before you even consider buying another cornsnake.

While of course researching to start with would have been preferable, at least you're prepared to research before you buy a new snake. Well done. Hang around here and you'll learn a lot.

Good luck. :)

Thank u

Thank u thats why i came back to find out more because the pet shop near me knows s**t thank u :wavey:

You stated your corn had thrown up a couple of pinkies and you had him a few weeks..through guesstimation it sounds like you did not wait the recommended 10 days after a regurge to feed again, which could have alot to due with his health problems. Did your corn keep any meals down?

This person states they got the corn a few months ago but I'm assuming they didn't join up the moment the corn died. I think he meant, he got the corn a few months ago, after a few weeks it died, and now some time later he's here looking for info. I might be wrong though. :)
