Love nick...

We've got 1.2 breeding group of corns, both females was bred and laid there clutches. Last female laid her clutch about a couple of weeks ago. Fed her a small meal the day she laid, then have been waiting for her to shed to start feeding. Well she shed last night and so I pulled the mouse out of the freezer tonight to thaw and went to feed her.

Opened her tub she came out from underneath the newspaper substrate. Nothing new just as normal. I had the mouse on the tongs, mouse feel off of the tongs & hit the newspaper. Went to grab the mouse with the tongs. Our female apparently didn't see it instead she came up and gave my thumb a love nick! Didn't hurt barely felt it, but she did break the skin...bleed for a 1/2 sec. Showed her the mouse and bam...she's eating now.

Just kinda weird...I'm guessing laying those 15 eggs makes a girl a little testy. :rofl: It was more just shock than anything. I'm guessing she was pretty hungry.

She smelled the mouse, then when she saw the movement of your hand she probably thought you were dinner. ^_^;;

FYI, for future reference, if they'll take the meal during a shed cycle (whether during breeding or not), it doesn't hurt to offer it. She was super hungry! :eek:

Yeah thanks for the FYI...next time I'll make sure and give plenty after laying. Everything is good, she's pounding down food and gaining her weight back.
