Lowest Temperature

I have a heat lamp to heat my vivarium which keeps it at about 81 but my snake ALWAYS stays on the cooler side which is about 73-75. I heard that it is a good idea to have a light set on a timer to turn on and off following night and day. Since this is my only heat source and I keep my house at 68-70 degrees will this be too cold for my snake??? I turned off the light to check the temperature inside the vivarium and it was about 69 degrees. He normally stays on the cool side of the tank but is this too cold?

It's cool, but acceptable for night time. You'd be better off to go with a under tank heater on a rheostat or thermostat and maintain the warm side at around 83-85.

If you are to continue with lights for heat, you can use red light at night instead of regular light.
