seems like i've been disagreeing with the guy who sold me this fella about a couple of things. Gender included. Male or Female?? not a very clear picture, but it'll have to do untill i can get another shot. Can you guys tell?

Based on that pic...I agree with CrazyCorn. When you take another picture, be sure to include the vent in it.
 
ok thanks both of you, i'll take another photo and post it up again. Will have to wait for a couple of days though, he's digesting at the moment. =)

could be clearer and include the vent but if I had to take a guess on that one, Iwould have to say male also.
 
I'm gonna play devil's advocate on this one. It may be a female. The deciding factor (IMO) is not shown on this picture. That is the vent. "The Corn Snake Manual" has some very good pictures, Check out page 37.

that definitely LOOKS male to me. But you know, the only way to definitely tell is either have a vet or knowledgable person probe it or try breeding it in the spring with a female or male and see what the reaction is.

at least its what i think and i used to have a ''male'', and i was very certain of its sex, till somebody sexed it and prooved me wrong...if you really want to be sure, let it be sexed
(sexing, thats how they call it right?)
 
hmmm i still think it tapers quickly but i guess it's all a matter of perspective. do you look at the tapering relative to the ABOVE of the vent? or just below? cause the above of his vent is pretty much thicker than directly below, that's what caused me to think that he might actually be female.
But then again, im new to all these, so if certain of you guys say male i'll take your word for it

No...the tapering is only looked at below the vent. The hemipenes is inverted into the tail below the vent and that is why it is thicker there. The tail kind of goes straight down (with a slight bulge), then tapers on a male. That is how your snake's tail appears.
