Made a video of my scorpions...

Is he still underfed looking?:shrugs:

I have a younger ball like that, too. Actually yours looks pretty plump for a young one lol... mine isn't as fat as that one and she's about a year and a half old. I fed her every 5 days til she was about a year old then every 7 days til about 3 weeks ago then switched to every 2 weeks. Mine still isn't as fat as that one lol. I thought mine looked pretty healthy, (looks alot better than the one I seen in the pet store the other day lol) and yours looks healthier (plumper) than mine. :)

Lil. :)

Lil I hope yours isn't that small at a year an a half old. I have a year and a half old female and she is 3.3 feet and is over 1000 g.

Mine's about the size as the pics posted in this thread...

I have been told by 3 different people including our vet that she's just fine the way she is. She's about 2 ft 10 inches and I don't know how much she weights but she's a little bit smaller than your pics in fat wise. It probably varies in different species of balls maybe? I don't know. But she's always looking around for more food lol... When she was about 6 or 9 months old, she was looking around for another baby mouse so I gave her two. Then she was looking around for more after that lol. I wasn't about to start givin her 3 mice lol. So a few weeks ago I started giving her small rats, and she still looks around for more after that, do you think it's safe for me to give her another one, two at one feeding? She's such a pig lol. But I used to feed her two mice every week, now I feed her starting a few weeks ago, one baby rat every 10 days or so...

Thanks,

Lil. :)

Okay...

now that I've looked at the previous pics again and just went in to measure my snake and came in here and looked at the pics (yet again lol) mine definitely is bigger than aztek's pics but his is probably younger I'm sure. At first glance, mine looked about the same though. I'm a tard sometimes heheheeee...

But mine isn't nearly as big as yours. Still isn't as plump as yours and mine is only 2 ft. 11 inches long. And I feed her quite a bit since I got her as a baby.

Lil.

Have a wonderful nite :)

Wow...

Maybe mine is just really large for her age? She was born 6/14/06.

You have a very healthy plump girl there lol... yeah that's about when mine was born. 6/16/06. I thought mine looked good, omg yours blows mine out of the water lol. What a gorgeous ball!!! You should be very proud... she's huge!!! lol

Lil. :) take care and have a great nite :)

Since she's always acting like she's hungry....

should I feed her more than one baby rat every 10 days? What do you feed yours? Mine's always acting like she wants more. When I was feeding her a baby mouse, she wanted more so I started feeding her 2 baby mice, then one baby rat lol... should I feed her two baby rats? What do you feed yours?

Thanx,

Lil. :)

Thanks. I got her not long ago from a guy who was making room for breeding his spider balls. He kept super detailed records on her. Based on her records of size and weight I would probably feed yours a weaned rat every week until yours gets the size of mine. Mine was on 1 weaned rat one week and then 1 small rat the next, then 1 weaned rat etc. I haven't gotten her to eat since I got her a few weeks ago. I think she is still adjusting to the new noises and smells around her. Also it isn't uncommon for them to go on fasting periods especially this time of year. She isn't nervous or shy at all and loves to be held. As long as she keeps her weight on I'm not worried. She will eat when she is ready.

Yes, you are so right, she will eat when she's ready. So, I'm going to go ahead and instead of feeding her a baby rat once every 10 days I'm going to go ahead and feed her one every week then. That's sounds good. I was told not to feed a snake over 1 year every week though? Does that sound right? Oh well, that's what I'm gonna do anyways lol...

Oh and by the way, my hubby had a ball python when we started going out 15 years ago and he would go about 9 months without eating. It's definitely a ball thing. Then all of a sudden, he would start eating again. We fed her two rats every feeding. This ball was about 5 years old and huge... so don't worry. They can go as long as a year without anything.

Lil. :)

It is ok to feed a ball 1 time a week if you feed smaller meals. My girl will live off of small rats the majority of her adult life. Of course metabolism and amount of exercise will also depend on how often you feed her. I personally would feed smaller meals more regularly and keep an eye on her weight. You can always cut back how often if she looks like she is headed in the direction of being bigger than you think she should.

Double post, but.
