male mouse not doing well!

snakemom1961

Spring is here!
My daughters decided they wanted to breed mice again for our baby corn snake. They bought the female awhile ago. Then i caved in and let them buy a male mouse so we could get pinkies for our baby.

Tonite my daughter decided to rearrange her room and move the mice. The male is still VERY small and sunken eyes. Rebecca moved him into his own cage and he's been eating nonstop. Could it be the female who was larger then him was eating all the food and not letting him get any of it? I personally am totally afraid of mice and won't go check them out!....LOL.

Any suggestions as to what may be wrong would be great!

It is possible that they aren't getting along. Sometimes you have to play match maker until you find a pair/group that will get along and breed.

It is also best to introduce them in a neutral tank. If you put him into hers or vise versa the "homeowner" sometimes is aggressive.

I always give the mice a full bowl of food so they're never short on food. You can try raising the male in a separate cage until he's a bit older then try to introduce him.
