Manzanita safe?

Ruderacer

So Cal Snake Addict
I was just wondering if anyone knows if manzanita wood is safe to use with snakes?? It grows all over place here and it looks really good. But I dont want to use any until I know for sure.
Thanks

Sorry but that type is unknown to me, but if it's like pine with sap I would say no. That being said, I think that most wood that is complelty dried out, sap and smell, is safe. Ceder is the exception. No ceder.

But what are you using it for???

I will be using it in the snake cages. Looks alot better then some of the stuff you can buy.

You can use the baking technique putting it in your oven at i guess 200 is the temp of choice (thats F) Leave it in there for 30 minutes or so that should kill anything on it.

Also you can soak it in soap and water for 30 mins before you bake it, if you want to go the extra yard its not necessary though :)
