Maple branch

jpccusa

Happy with this new hobby
I found a big maple branch that I want to use on my viv.

Is maple wood safe for snakes?
Also, there is no way I can cook it or submerge it due to its size. Will bleach solution be enough to rid it of hitch hikers?

As for the type of wood, I would say it's OK. I even think pine is OK as long as it very dry out ..No sap..
Corn live in the wild in the pine barrens here in south Jersey so i believe it should be dry.
And yes you can bleach it, just rinse it well and let it dry out leaving no odor.

You can also cover it with foil first and bake it! Be sure to knock off all the bark first and then bake it really low temps... If you do the bleach, use a pretty weak solution. You wouldn't want it still smelling strongly of bleach after it's dried.
