"Mari" - Low expression pied blood

DragonsDenSerpents

Murphy's Guinea Pig
Decided to make a progression thread for my very first holdback, Mari, a low expression pied bloodred 100% het hypo out of Siri x Cayenne. I was totally not expecting for a pied to hatch out of this clutch! Siri was sold as het for pied, but Cayenne has no pied in her lineage, at least as far as her breeder is aware and has never thrown pied babies before. I messaged Hector from Unique Snakes at the suggestion of beautifullywild77 and he agreed she was pied.

Mari's a sweet little hatchling, especially compared to her siblings. No issues eating for the entire clutch either. After these past two rough seasons, I'm thrilled to be holding this little lady back.

From today, with help from a few friends of mine who have been eager to see the babies:

This snake is one of the coolest looking ones I have seen since I have been a part of this group. Given, that is only a week or so, but still. Haha.

Seriously though, the side of the body on that snake is mesmerizing to say the least. The way the red and white bleed into each other in different intensities along the snake make it a truly unique creature.

I would have held it back too. You are definitely lucky to have that one in your collection.

Thanks folks!

Thanks! She's nothing extraordinary for a pied, but more of a head-scratcher as her mum isn't from pied lines. Have you checked out Walter's new baby pied? Now THAT is one stunning baby!

Mari had a shed recently, so I grabbed my phone for quick pictures after feeding. She is so RED now! 10g and eating like a pig.

Some think that when Bloods were first designed 30 years ago they were bred for being just plain red, that pied-ness then was there in the line but not selected for as a valuable trait.
Today people select differently, for the pied trait.

Mari update! She's eating like a pig and starting to get feisty like her father. I can't believe how much more red she gets every day!
