Just had to share this picture as I am proud of all of my sons. This is the youngest that recently joined the Marines. Wish I had more pictures. It is so hard watching our young men and women grow up and go off into the world.

He has indeed made me proud Nanci. I'm wishing him the best each and every day. Marines are known to have some of the toughest training, but then I'm biased that way after hearing so many marine recon stories from his great uncle.

that's great! my older brother is a gunnery sargeant in the Marines-he's in Afghanistan right now,my younger brother served around 8 yrs. in the Marines & had 3 tours to the Middle East-I know you're very proud of your son! :)

My heart goes out to your family as well Motley. I know your proud of them as well. So many of our children volunteer out of pride for their country and to defend the rights we hold dear. It upsets me when I hear people say they don't support the troops because of this or that. Many these days just don't seem to get it. I'm glad your family does.

Congratulations to your son! Wishing him all the best in his service. No wonder you are proud of him.
(My family seems to have had a penchant for uniformed careers, with an RAF Wing Commander and a Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer amongst my uncles. In my generation we've gone into civillian service, with myself as a senior nurse and cousins in the police and fire service.)

Congrats! My papa (dad's dad) was a fighter pilot in WW2, my grampa (mom's dad) was a Corpsman for the Marines who worked for the Navy? (I think that's how that went) and my grandmother (mom's mom) was a Lieutenant in the Navy for a while and her father was in the Navy for many years. My aunt's husband is currently in the Army National Guard and has spent time over in Afghanistan (going again soon) so lots of Military in my family I guess. I almost joined when I was younger but was not physically up to the challenge (bad back, knees, etc).
