Maximum holding time

How old is it? -- I'm guessing a hatchling.

It is usually recommended to start slow. Maybe handle 5 minutes or so for awhile and build up over time. I'm sure lots of people may say it doesn't matter. IMO, It's kind of related to the snakes personality. If it is mellow and seems to take the handling well you can probably go a little longer. If it's a wriggly little one that doesn't appreciate being bothered, it's better to go slow at first.

I agree, while your snake is getting used to you short frequant handling sessions are better, but as your snake becomes more and more comfortable with being handled you can lengthen the time :)

That's my little banded to a T. So I usually only do about 5 minutes, a little longer on feeding & cleaning days. I can't wait for him to get a little bigger so it will be easy to handle him more :D

I've got an '05 butter who is the worst! In addition to squirming, she's a biter. Even once you've got a hold of her, if you move too fast she'll strike. She's a wild one with a temper. Needless to say, I named her Precious.

HA! I have one that thinks he can fly. He's always wanting to shoot right out of my hands. But once I try to put him down he's holding on for dear life! lol

Well I just took out my snow for a breif moment..he's been home for 4 days now. He doesn't move..he is completely still in the palm of my hand..flicking his tongue and probably figures since he blends in with my skin tone..and if he doesn't move, I can't see him..LOL.

I don't think he's moved much since I brought him home.

My little Travis has been home for two and a half days or so, I haven't attempted to pick him up yet - He's so long and faaaast, And instead of not moving much, he does wonder around a lot, but only when im out of the room. It should change as he gets used to me entering the room every now and then.

I'm guessing he's about two or so months old, he's about 12-13 inches long? and sooo fast he will wriggle straight out of my hand when I finally get hold of him!
