Meridian - Ghost vanishing stripe 2014

Update on Meridian, my smallest by a mile. He was 13 grams at his last weigh-in. He has settled now to where I can hold him and he just cruises around without trying to escape to the point of being willing to die for it. It used to be nervewracking for both of us to take him out, but now we can both relax a little. I still can't take my eyes off him for a second though. He's still pretty fast, doesn't sit still, and he's so light I can't always feel him moving.

I never really thought I'd have a ghost of any kind, but saw him at a show and just kinda had to have him. And I certainly don't regret it. I think he's just beautiful!

Here he was when I got him 3 months ago, at 6 grams.

A couple more pictures to follow...

Sadly, his lion's head marking is starting to fade a little. meri resize1.jpg

Suprisingly he's developing a little bit of pink along his neck. It's quite pretty, I wonder if it will continue?

Meri being curious about the camera. Love it.

Ohh I love Ghost Stripes, I'm really going to get me one this year haha!

I do love the grey snakes, just not sure yet how I feel about the anery's tendancy to develop so much yellow... love it on some snakes, not so much on others. But stripes have definitely grown on me over the past year or two! I think everyone should have at least one stripe!! LOL

Does he look too skinny?

A little update on Meri, he's such a sweet boy. He's probably the only one who actively comes to me to be taken out. Still a little shy with strangers, but totally comfortable with me now.

Here are a few cell phone pics taken outdoors alternating cloudy and sunny lighting conditions. Can anyone comment on if he looks a little underweight? His backbone seems to stick out in these pictures more than my girls, but he's also a lot smaller than them still, so it's hard to compare him to them. The third picture is the one that really looked skinny to me.

I am loving the yellow he developed... I love his eyes!!
He is stunning, and now I'm adding to my list lol
Obviously I'm not any type of expert but I personally don't think he looks too thin.

He's so pretty! I think if it is like a pastel yellow like the pastel grey/pink ghosts have it would fit right in with the snake if you know what I mean :)
My girl also has a lot of yellow but she also has pastel coloring and it's so pretty together! I don't mind the yellow at all though, I think it's very pretty!

He says thank you for the compliments! He knows he's handsome, I'm sure of it.
So far his colors are very soft/pastel and I am loving them. I'm really happy with how light he has stayed overall. But he still has a lot of growing to do, so I guess we'll see what he looks like in another 6 months or so!

Mr Meridian the moody. I'm not sure if it's a breeding season thing or what, but this guy is un-pre-dict-able for the past couple of months! Some days he's sweet as pie, some days he's nippy, some days he's flighty... I never know what I'm going to get. One day I tried to take him out and he went absolutely crazy trying to get away, so I let him go. He then turned around, FLEW out of the cage like Super Grover (right over my shoulder) and landed right next to the couch, which he promptly crawled under, and up into. Here is what the back of my couch now looks like after recovering him.

I guess he just knows he can get away with it because he's so pretty.

I wish I had more good pictures of him, but I don't. Here he is in January...

... and in April of this year. He looks a little dark here, I would suspect this picture was shortly before a shed.

And a few very pretty pictures, but not so recent. These are from the January photo shoot. He thinks he's a good hider, but I can see him peeking out!!

A few to try to capture his soft yellows and pinks. To give you some idea of how little justice these pictures do him, the wall behind him is almost lime green. :( Somehow the colors all got really faded in these pictures.

Case in point about his moodiness. Two days ago I go to take him out and he acts terrified. I literally had to pull everything out of his cage and ended up kinda just hauling him out by his tail, which he never stopped rattling at me the whole time. (Hand over hand, but he was *swimming* like an eel so fast that I still never managed to get much more than his tail in hand.) I guess I could have let him settle and tried again later, but there's no guarantee he's going to be any better later, so I persevered. Once I had him out he was absolutely fine, other than being a little annoyed.

Yesterday I didn't bother him. We both needed to recover from that.

Today, I took him out this morning, and he was an absolute sweetheart. He gave me no trouble at all. Both times he was awake and out of hiding. Then tonight I go to feed him, and he knows there's food coming. I'm ready for a rodeo, and again, he comes out like a gentleman.

Some days he sweet and calm, and some days he's super fearful, and I can't seem to figure out what's different between the days.

I've been having trouble keeping up with all the posts lately and just saw this. Wow on the couch back, but I would do the same if I needed to. Mr. Moody-Mellow Meridian is absolutely beautiful. Glad he brought his mellow self for feeding. What a little imp!

Thank you! I literally just stare at him and think how pretty he is. Okay, okay, I do that with all of them. Mine and everyone else's! Haha.
