Ok I'm in the mood for tops fives so i'm leaving like 8 on here...

TOP FIVE METALLICA SONGS

1.Unforgiven II
2.Master of Puppets
3.St. Anger
4.Battery
5.No Leaf Clover

I personally do not really like Metallica's new songs at all. I tried to learn them and like them.. Compared to their older songs, I just don't like them. The St. Anger CD etc.

I do agree their older stuff was just phenomenal but they set standards they cannot even meet so i mean i guess i let some bad ones slide by but i love em all really so idk top five was tough for me...

gotta love seek and destroy...The bag piper played the instrumentals for one at my uncles funeral...He obviously loved metallica...

but they set standards they cannot even meet
For some reason, this part of you statement just doesn't make sense to me. :shrugs:

Anyway, Metallica Metallica was the pivotal point in their career. Good album, but I don't think anything after it can even come close to comparing to their early BEST stuff. I don't think a top 5 list could get anything from after the black album.

This is just off the top of my head not necessarily in order, but kinda:
Creeping Death
The Four Horsemen
One
Am I Evil?
Seek and Destroy
Trapped Under Ice
Blitzkrieg
Fight Fire With Fire
Fade to Black
Master of Puppets
Enter Sandman

Can't really go wrong with any of it!! :D

When I went to my cousins wedding reception...the 'father-daughter' dance was "Enter Sandman" It was fantastic.

Death Magnetic was a pretty good album. However, I'm pondering that might be due to the bad aftertaste of St. Anger... hard to get any worse than that album for Metallica standards. I enjoy it[Death Magnetic].

My all time favorite of Metallica's will forever be Kill 'Em All. I prefer Metallica when they still had Dave, honestly. I'm glad they still rock 'em hard, times change and all, but the first few albums are tops for me.

1. Jump In The Fire
2. For Whom The Bell Tolls
3. Orion
4. Ride The Lightning
5. Seek And Destroy

yeah my fav from magnetic is prolly All Nightmare Long...DRIZZ i meant that their older stuff was so amazing that it is impossible for even them to match that

Am I Evil and Blitzkrieg are covers - not originally by Metallica. :p

I'm going to be the voice of reason here and say that Load is Metallica's best album. :p I'm also the only person who says that, but that's cool.

Master of Puppets is Metallica's best song, though. Ronnie, Poor Twisted Me and Bleeding Me are not far behind.

And yet still better than anything after the black album! :p

You know what else is better than Metallica? Rammstein, Eisbrecher and Celldweller. :p If we can include the music from other bands, well, Metallica isn't so amazing anymore are they? :)

Hey without the grounds metallica set up than we wouldn't have all the bands we love 2day...so maybe their newer stuff isn't great but when lining up the bands in their genre they are the best...and i do love rammstein as well....their concert in france was amazing....and also Nova...Metallica did a alot of covers from bands in the sixties and seventies that didn't get as much credit becuz the type of music wasn't as big back then...like whiskey in the jar...and others...they just used a song they liked and made it popular to public eye

Interesting that you used Whiskey in the Jar - seeing as no one knows who originally wrote the song and Thin Lizzy was covering the Dubliners when they performed it. :p

Ooh Metallica, Top 5, that's a tough one. I'd have to go with:

Enter Sandman
Master of Puppets
Seek and Destroy
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
Crash Course In Brain Surgery

I know the last one is not one of theirs and came from the Garage Inc CDs, but it still kicks.

Brings back memories, saw Metallica on the Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets tours (showing my age now!), with Anthrax in support. Also saw them in their best gig, for me anyway, when they were 'support' to King Diamond in a tiny club in London, as a warm up to either the MoP tour or their slot at the Donnington Festival (Can't remember which).

Billed as King Diamond, plus 'Damage Inc' in support. Surprise surprise KD came on first and then Metallica rolled in, and just kept playing, and playing. Tiny stage, no security guards, barriers etc etc. just brilliant!.

anyway, must get back to work!

cheers

ian

Im a massive metallica so much i even got my first ink after them and have never regreted it there new stuff isnt great compared to the old but when you compare anything to the first 5 albums it can never live up to that. The music has seen me through many dark times and has been a big part of my childhood
