Which is better to feed my cornsnake, mice or rats? Right now, little Toby is one month and one day old, so he is eating day old mouse pinkies. Is there any nutrional difference between them? What size mice do adult cornsnakes usually eat?
Seeing as he's a baby stick to the mouse pinks. He can't take rats yet. Rats do have more nutritional value. But they wouldn;t be able to take down a rat pink till their on Mouse Hoppers.
I know he won't be able to take rats for a while yet. The question was to decide if he should eventually be switched to rats from mice. I had wondered because I had several people suggest that we switch our BP from mice to rats, and he is doing very well on them.
Well as long as the prey item is 1.5 times the girth...go for it. I know when we got our Boa they told us he would be fine on mice but he was givin an adult mouse before we got him and the next feeding we gave him a rat. Mind you he went a month or more without food.
