Missing Corn

I'm sure there's been plenty of these topics - I've looked at quite a few to get some tips. I wanted to see if I could gather some more.

I must not have taped Pandora's bin lid tight enough, and he got out. Today is his feeding day, so he's bound to be hungry. I live in a SMALL four-bedroom apartment with one roommate, and the other two bedrooms are locked. I've checked EVERYWHERE, couldn't find him. He's less than two feet long, not even a yearling.

So far, I've put plastic bags along the baseboards, scotch tape along the baseboards (slightly away from the bags), and I've set out a plastic bottle with a thawed pinky in it (with holes in the bottle) and a water dish beside it. I keep him in my room normally, and I'm still keeping that room warm. I very much doubt he got outside, because the bottom of our doors are sealed pretty darn well.

Is there anything else I can do?

GET RID OF THAT SCOTCH TAP a.s.a.p!

if he gets stuck to that it could tare his skin or scales if he get stuck on it!!

what you wanna go get is painters tape the BLUE kind, its sticky enough to hold em, and can easily be removed with vegetable oil..

aside from that I'd check everywhere close to the Vic, usually they don't go far from home, check anything he could crawl into tight spaces, under things!
and maybe set up his UTH and his favourite hide on the floor close by so he has somewhere warm to hide away.. aside from that I think you've covered everything.. :(

I really hope you find him!
sending good wishes your way! <333

I have had this happen to me more than once. The first was my snow corn, who ended up I'm my middle brother's room and scaring him. The second was my friend's corn that I was watching for him while he was out of town.

In any case, as Justine66 said get rid of the scotch tape. Go with the masking tape, usually blue but some places may have it in green. They USUALLY don't travel far from home being so young, my snow must have been a flux because she wasn't even a foot when she escaped and traveled at least 30 ft from my room to my brother's.

Check in dark areas that provide tight spaces, if it is a warm area, all the more reason to check. WARNGING!! Watch out for floor a/c vents!! It is a very real possibility that your snake could have gotten in there. If your apartment doesn't have them on the floor, then breathe a relaxing breath.

I hope this helps, and that you find you snake asap.

Oh my gosh, I didn't realise scotch was too sticky. I'll get rid of it right away!!

My apartment doesn't have vents on the floor, but there's lots of little spaces he could have gotten behind/under appliances, like the oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, washing/drying machines, and the closet with the hot water tank. I'm really scared about the last one, cause it has an open pipe that leads down and Idk where it goes. If he goes/went there I won't be getting him back.

Thanks for the help. How long should I leave the mouse out?

Also, you can put baby powder on the floor like kitchen, bathroom ect, it will let you know if he has been there, my babies have gotten out twice and i always found them in blankets or shoes. I also had an issue with tape, i pht tape in the viv to keep down the probe wire and my baby corn got stuck, i used duck tape pakaging tape. I was a horrible mommy, >< lets just say by the time i had him off the tape. It wasnt pretty but.he did heal, luckily. Anyways, baby powder works also laying down blankets at.the bbottom of the door after youve ched the room will narrow his places s to be. Im sorry he is missing, ggood luck!!

My little one got out twice this summer (once totally my fault, the other unclear) and we found her in a pile of laundry once and a shoe the other time - it's a miracle the poor critter didn't get athlete's body...

If it is chilly up there in Ohio, you might put out a load of warm laundry near where the escape occurred and turn off the lights, then check carefully in the morning. Decent chance the snake will come to the warm snugly clothes overnight...

Howdy, fellow Ohioan. Sorry about your snake. Guruofchem is right, you should get him/her some warmth because it is getting colder. Have you looked in all the really weird places like under furniture or in drawers and stuff? Hope you find it!

I've checked in cupboards and drawers, in shoes, and actually I had a load of warm laundry out when it happened, totally coincidence - once I realised the lil guy was missing, I carefully emptied and folded everything, but he wasn't there :c

I keep a small space heater in my room to keep it warm (don't worry, the openings are NOT big enough for him, even if he squeezes! Positive of this one!) so I'm hoping he seeks out warmth and comes/stays in that room.... No luck so far, but my roommate and boyfriend (who practically lives here too) are also on the lookout....
