missing snake, jinxed

I think I have been jinxed by reading about all these recent escapees. I went to check my little not feeder today to try to get her to eat again and no snake, I tore down the entire tank and cleaned it out. I have little to no hope of finding her alive. I can't bait any bottles cause she doesn't eat anyway, and I have two cats that are hunters and two dogs. I have a feeling that the cats would've killed her had they run across her. I've found tons of hot wheels while cleaning under furniture, but no snake. Three kids rooms she could be in and that would be like finding a needle in a haystack. I'm lucky to find my kids in there ;)
Any chance the cats might've completely eaten her? I don't know if cats eat snakes like they would a mouse.

With a lot of clutter she should be easier to hide. It may take a while, but start with the room she was in. Every snake I have had escape was found within 10 feet of their viv.

Good luck!

Just keep looking and don't give up hope. My house is full of predators - three cats and five dogs - and my little lost baby was gone for a week and the other animals never found her. With that said, however, do pay attention to your cats. Sometimes they will show you where she is.

Put out a hide, preferably warm and maybe with a little food item. I agree with the others, often you will find them very close to "home". Corn snakes are *very* good at hiding. All of my "escapees" were found in the same room as their home - except one (he I found in the basement, 2 floors below home, 5 weeks after "escape").

GOOD LUCK in your search !!

Try putting some flour on the floor around the doors and the like, you may see a mark of passage.

Good LUCK !

It wouldn't help to put out food as this snake doesn't eat and my cats would just go for the food.
Do they like to hide in piles of clothes?

Definitely keep looking, like the comments above, corn snakes are good at hiding. Also, put out some water in a low bowl. Can you keep the other pets out of that room ?

I've never tried this, but a friend suggested it: put a low box, with holes cut on all four sides on the floor. When you put it down, fill it a couple of inches with aspen bedding. In nature they hide in debris/wood piles etc...

Good luck !

Keep looking ;)

One other thing, have you checked carefully in the furniture in the room ? I mean move all the cushions and look/feel carefully in the deep spaces. Look underneath and up in the springs (if any) etc.

Were there any ceramic hides in the viv ? There are some cases where the snake was actually still in the viv, just hidden in a cubby hole in a decoration/hide.

My corn escaped a while back. He was only 6 months old, still to this day do not know how he got out, he would have had a 4 ft drop from the viv to the floor.

Anyway I found him that night sat on the washing pile on the landing (about 2 meters from viv)

Do be careful when searching, you don't want to squash him...

My lava lavender male escaped today, I have no idea how he did it from the rack system I keep him in. So I guess we are in the same boat. :(

Have you found your snake yet? I found the lava lavender when I came home from work today, crawling between a bookshelf and a desk. I was certain he'd be dead meat if he got out since we have 3 dogs including a food-crazy sheltie that will eat anything that moves. So there's hope for your little one :)

No I haven't had any luck. Did find my sons glasses that were lost. I've never seen any of their rooms so clean. I threw out a ton of junk but no snake. Since she's so tiny I wonder if she went down the furnace vent.

There is a furnace vent on the floor next to the snake rack mine was in, and I was sure he had crawled down in, but I guess he didn't. He is just a hatchling so easily could have. Hope you find yours soon!

I have had 2 baby snakes escape and I have found them both times. One of them I was sure went down the vent but I ended up finding him in the basement safe and sound.

The other was a tiny baby I had just gotten. He escaped with in a few hours of having him. I noticed pretty quickly and I found him in the same room in the closet under some clothes.
