Mixing up diet

rockmonky

I'm normally impaired
Has any one mixed up the diet one their corns to help growth?
I was thinking about feeding a anole once a month or so to maybe give thim some nutriance that they dont get from the mice to posably help growth
I dont want to make them fat gust have a good rate
or do you think that it might just confuse them?
Thanks TIM

When changing food items I believe you'd run the risk that your snake would get 'picky' and refuse other items that you normally feed. Personally, I choose to inject their normal food item (f/t or p/k mice) with vitamin supplements about every 2nd month or so.

If your thinking that way why not supplement the food.
Roy has vitamin booster which has..............

-Repcal Herptivite....vitamins
-Tetra Fauna Repti Cal .....Calcium and D
-Nutri-bac......probiotic

in it it's a 2.2.1 ratio
I think he going to patent it. :grin01:

I would think you would feed anoles only if you had a problem feeder.
And might be a problem switching back. :shrugs:

One thing that was not mentioned is that most anoles in the pet trade are actually wild caught so if you decide to feed anoles you may put your snake at the risk of internal/external parasites and disease.

A few other options for varying the diet of your snake are day old chikens, quail, or even rat pups instead of the mouse that you normally offer. Like everyone has said snakes can become picky and start to prefer alternate feed items over the normal feed item, so that is something you might want to think about before actually trying any alternate type of feeder.

Hope that helps.

Turning them in to picky eaters was my main consern
we already give rats every now and agean
