i know this will sound like a very stupid question but what is a moist hide? because my snake is starting the blue phase and i want to be ready
 
when your snake starts the shed cycle, you have two options to make it go easier for him. You can either raise the humidity in the tank by misting daily and keeping the humidity up around 60%, or you can make a moist hide. That's when you'd take something like a plastic container with a hole in it so he can get in and out. You'd need something like damp moss or damp paper towels inside there to keep it humid. That way, the snake has the option of either being in a humid environment or not. Misting has always worked just fine for me though.

They are used to give a snake a place with very high humidity to assist in it's shedding...A large tupperware container with a lid, filled with damp moss or paper towels and an entry hole cut in it equals a moist hide...Folks who live in low humidity area's will sometimes use them 24/7, as they will indirectly raise the humidity in the cage, otherwise they get used just during their snakes shed phase :*)
 
good luck permethius... my snake has been blue for 3 days and he just got clear today! Im so excited and anxously awaiting a shed.. i had a humid hide box in there but he never used it so i just mostened him a bit with water every day myself.. just to be on the safe side! Hope yours goes well and let us know when he/she sheds!
 
You can also consider that most corns will not need misting or a moist hide at these times. While I am sure it can undoubtedly be beneficial, it is also worth noting that corns in the wild are not given moister hides or misting when it comes to shed time. Most corns will shed fine without your intervention.

Wanting to take part in your corns first sheds with you is not so unreasonable though so definitely do what you feel most comfortable with, just do not think that it is a necessity that you interfere with the natural process.

These times = Summer. You'll definately need to do something in the winter though in most locations because the humidity is low everywhere.
