Mom is thinking about it

A while ago I completely gave up on the idea of getting a snake, but today I talked to my mom again and this time she said she would think about letting me get one. Does anyone know how I can convince my mom that there is no reason to be afraid of snakes?

Well Joe, all I can say is alot of women are wierd when it comes to snakes(my mom was a perfect example) I grew up fishing and hunting for worms to fish with, so snakes were no problem with me.

It was actually me who got our first corn for my girls for christmas 4 yrs ago(happy 4 yr anniversary Tiaga). I must say i'm a critter lover so that was easy for me.

All I can say is tell mom how little work it really is to keep a corn snake vs other snakes and how you will be responsible for it's care and she'll never have to know it's even in the house....LOL

good luck and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I have been telling her all about corns, and she knows Im responsible because I take care of my 2 cats, hamster, and parakeet. I told her how I can make a thing out of wood that I would slide the tank into, so the lid couldnt be lifted, therefore the snake couldnt escape. I would have to take it out of the thing I made to open it, but she is still afraid it will get out. I dont know what to do. I have wanted a snake since I was about 5 years old, and now Im 13. Ive been reading about corns since april of 2006, so I know enough to take really good care of it.

btw - merry christmas to you, too :p

My parents originally said that I couldn't get a snake; especially a corn. One day when we were at my grandparents house we found a garter and I convinced my parents to keep it. Now my dad says that I can get something bigger in the summer, like a corn or kingsnake.

Take her to Petco/Petsmart and let her see the vivs with the sliding/locking lids. No way anyone's getting out of one of those unless you don't put the lid on correctly.

One thing you could do to make sure it never got out, is to put bungie cords around the cage over the top. There is NO WAY the baby could escape if it's bungie corded on. That's how We have our baby's cage hooked shut, works like a charm.

I already told her and showed her all the different things that would keep a snake from escaping.. She still wont let me get it ='(

I never wanted anything this much, in my whole life =(

I called my friend and he gave me some good ideas. He said to get my mom to take my to petco, and show her all the cages with locks and stuff, and then ask to handle a corn snake. So then she will see it cant escape, and that its friendly because Im handling it. Ill go after tomorrow, because tomorrow traffic will be a nightmare - all the people returning gifts. I hope this plan works =]
