Mommy to MoJo ~ My Newbie Intro

LOCA for corn snakes !!!
Hello Everyone! I am so glad to be here! I have been poking around for a little over two weeks now and just recently started posting. I am a first time snake owner from Southern New Jersey. I got my corn last Friday he is a Normal het for Hypo Male - 9months old. His name is MoJo. I bought him from a breeder in DE that had one too many snakes than she had time for. He is very healthy and a good eater. I've fed him once so far and I think he's going to shed soon (he's getting that blueish tint) He really "belongs" to my 7 year old son but we all know Mom wouldnt have let him be solely resposible for the care of an animal at that age. I have always wanted a snake as I love all animals equally, even mice. So in saying that I never thought I could own a snake. Well about two weeks ago I was informed of the frozen/thawed method. I was ECSTATIC! I agreed to let my son get a snake the very next week (after i did as much research as I could to be able to care for it properly- thanks cornsnakes.com) I also, did some research at my work (University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Hospital) speaking to different doctors in the special species department.

So, I just want to say thank you for getting me off to a great start! Im SURE I still have a LOT to learn....and oh, ps Im already looking to get another corn! (If I can talk the hubby into letting me) Ive realized they are like potato chips...you can't have just one! LOL

As soon as I figure out how to post a pic of MoJo I will!

Welcome to the forum. There's tons of info here and great people, too. You can spend hours here to help add to the addiction. :)

Posting Pics

Thanks for pic info! I will have to take some pics this weekend and post them! It sounds easy enough!

Hi there, MoJo's Mommy and welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your time here :)

If you're already thinking of getting another corn, I don't think there's any point in me warning you, that keeping corns is an addiction, as you're already hooked ;)

Best wishes and I look forward to you posting pics :)

Ah, you're a wise woman. You're quite right - you can't have just one! I was given my 1st for my birthday in February. It wasn't long before I bought 4 more, and I'm quite sure I'll be getting another one...or two..or...well, you get the point!
:)
I know you and your son will have fun with your new hobby. Welcome to the forum!

Caryl,
My son is ECSTATIC! He loves holding MoJ as much as I do(my daughter not so much -lol). I think it is a must that we eventaully get another corn because if not me and my 7 year old son will be arguing who gets to hold him all the time....JK

I have decided to make a goal for myself. I fell in love with Pasodama's Santico & Lucinda ghost bloods. My favorite color is pink! I have to have a pink and gray snake! Those are the two most beautiful snakes I have ever seen. Hopefully I can find one even half as beautiful as they are! I know they are expensive but because my husband is not a real animal lover I am limited to how many I can have. I'm guessing 2 is my limit! LOL So, if I can only have one more then it has to be a stunning ghost blood. This way it solves two problems. I get the snake I truly want and I wont have tons of "impulse" purchases.

Hi
Welcome and enjoy. I have only been using the site for a week myself. I started off with one corn in april and now I have 6. They are highly addictive. Can't wait to see your pics.

Well, Kristie, it sounds like you have a plan. Hope you find that magical, perfect ghost blood you hope for. Isn't it fun to share this hobby with kids? I'm a teacher; I have corns in my classroom and that's really cool. We're currently on summer break, so all the more fun at home!

Not that I'm trying to stir up trouble, but my husband has been surprisingly cooperative about multiple snakes. They're SO easy to care for, and so clean compared to some of the other critters I've dealt with. Maybe you can have as many as you want! No, wait.....who could afford that? :) Seriously though, enjoy - but beware the Photo Gallery forum!

Welcome to the forum! Great to hear that you are in the search for more snakes in the future! Can't wait to see pics! :0)
