Thank you all for your help with my questions the other day. As a new snake owner it is good to have expert advice at my fingertips!!

We went and got our little corn snake yesterday!!! My kids named him Monty after Uncle Monty in the Lemony Snicket books. He is a normal, but honestly I think he's just as pretty as any of the other colors, they had about a dozen different colors but we still liked him best (I picked him out the other day).

At the shop he was a very friendly little snake, tho he is not so happy now that he is here. We are leaving him alone for now, hopefully he will be feeling like himself in a few days. At the moment he is burrowed under the substrate (aspen) but we saw him out exploring last night and things are sort of moved around in there this morning, it looks like he was pretty active last night! I'll get a picture of him to share once he's settled in. He is so cute.

Oh, and they said he is 5 to 6 months old. I thought he was younger, but it's just as well since he is feeding well and looks very healthy. :D He seems very small when he is coiled up but stretched out he seems loooong. I'll measure him later in the week. He was the biggest snake in the tub, they were all from the same clutch (there were 4 others left).

Thats great! Congratulations on the new snake! I'm sure monty will adjust to being in his new home soon. But even still, you may not see too much of him during the day since corns are nocturnal. My little one peeks out of her hides during the day periodically (unless its feeding day, then she's out cruising the viv all day) and comes out completely around 9 or 10 at night.

I understand what you mean about the normals, thats what my little one is too. In my opinion, you just cant beat them in beauty! Good luck with Monty and welcome to the cornsnake obsession. :)

Welcome!

So glad to hear about your new corn. We expect to see some pictures soon! Monty is a great name by the way...
