Can anyone recommend some books and/or sites to read up on corn snakes? I'm planning on getting one in the future, but want to learn a LOT more first. I've been surfing the net, just wondered if there's anywhere specific I should be. Thanks. Also, if anyone has any general tips, that'd be great too. Thanks again.

I would say that this is one of the best sites there is to learn about corn snakes.

This is the best book to buy and there are so much information in this book. Trust me, you'll be referring to this book once in a while. It's just such a nice book!

i wouldn't spend money on a book, the internet is a huge book in itself with free viewing.. search a search site like dogpile.com for CornSnake Caresheets ..ull learn all u need 2 know

I LOVE the internet, LOVE IT. But NOTHING and I mean NOTHING compares to having a book at hand when you can't reach the computer. I can't get on the internet in my snake room.
And even though Statickaos thinks he learned all he needs to know on the internet, he is wrong, you should listen to everyone else, you will want the book. I promise!
There are many many things in the cornsnake books around that just aren't on the internet. *Especically* in Kathy Loves book that Iris mentioned.

Like statickaos, I was reluctant to spend money on a corn snake book (at first) so I browsed through every corn snake site I could find on the internet using search engines. I found several helpful care sheets, but all of these put together could not compare to the Corn Snake Manual. Kathy Love is one of the biggest and most well-known corn snake breeders, so she most certainly knows what she is talking about in her book. The ~$15 I spent on the book is probably the best $15 I have ever spent in my life.

Thanx for the info, everyone. I guess I'd better be ordering The Corn Snake manual! One other thing....I've noticed that you aren't supposed to handle your snake for a couple of days after it eats. If you feed it in a seperate tank, you can't exactly return it to its home without handling it. Is it okay to briefly handle a just-fed snake to put it back from the feeding tank? Thanx.

nah i juss wouldn't spend money on the book because I don't even own corns yet..We are getting 1 today though and I've already found everything I would need to know..For months now I've been readin up on herps of all kinds so i got tha experience down..

Its none of my business to say this but I can't help myself.
It upsets me when people say things like you just did

For one, no, you do not have the experience down. Reading about herps is totally 100% different than dealing with them everyday. I have zip ziltch nada experience compared to what I need and what others have, and I promise I have been keeping snakes and reptiles longer than you. And I don't have the "experience down"
If you want to sucsesfully keep any species of reptiles including snakes, the phrase "I already know everything" will get you nowhere, because the best herpers/keepers/breeders/field experts know that you never ever know everything there is to know about a certain herp, you are always learning.
Not trying to be rude but its sad when people who aren't even aware of what taking care of a full herp collection means already dont see the need in more learning. Educate yourself!!!! And read everything you can!!!

believe me, you can never know enough about corn snakes. There's always a few more things that you find out every day.

I got the book today at the local reptile show. Sorry, I'm excited and just had to share. I also talked to some of the breeders and decided who I'll be buying my cornsnake from (AFTER I've read the CornSnake Manual front to back and back to front, lol, and AFTER I'm finished remodeling my house...too messy right now). Anyway, yay!
