More Q's on rack heating...

Yes, *another* rack heating question. :p I've looked through the discussions on racks, and I'm torn between horizontal flexiwatt rows and a single strip up the back. The single strip does sound like a lot less wiring and a bit cheaper ,but I guess I'm not sure how that could heat the bins evenly? It seems to me like the ones near the tape will be too hot or the ones far from it would be too cold? Or do you usually use two or three strips down the back? (say, one 11" strip every three feet, or something)

I also had a question on security... I see those nice big bins some people have but I wonder how you make them secure? The plastic bins I can find all are pretty flexible, and I'm afraid an adult corn will manage to push its way out! So far the only thing I've thought of is melting holes in the lid and locking the lid and bin together with wires or pins, and that does seem to be pretty secure, but it'd be a pain to take off 6 wires every time I want to open the enclosure :p

heh, nevermind, was rereading the rack thread and finally got it...

I run my tape vertically behind the center on each tub . This ensures that the heat is evenly distributed. You can run the tape horizontally across the back on each shelf, but will use 2-3x the amount of heat tape.

Although for hatchling racks it seems like that'd be *more* tape... anyho. Still curious about security for big tubs :)
