Mosquito repelent safe to use around my snake?

Okay so I have very sensitive skin & this yr we have got a very bad mosquito problem (well bad by uk standards). I am being constantly bitten & I can't take any more!! I want to use mosquito repellent spray on myself but I'm not sure if it would be safe to do so because of my corn snake. Is it toxic to snakes? My corn likes to climb over my arms & legs when I have her out & I'm worried that if I use the spray I'll unintentionally poison her. Is mosquito repellent toxic to corns or are there any natural remedies I can try that won't harm my baby? Any advice would be EXTREMELY appreciated!

I wouldn't risk it myself. Any kind of pesticide or insecticide is usually bad news for reptiles. Check the can - anything that gives a warning that it's dangerous to fish, is a particular no-no for reptiles.

Garlic might work on the pests, but I've also found that it makes my Corns very bitey if I've been handling it or eating it.

I think I'll avoid the insect repellent just in case. Maybe I'll try some garlic tablets. I cook with it a fair bit & popcorn hasn't seemed too bothered by it thus far. May look in to that. Thanks guys.

Reading the links you guys popped in your replies I see that citronella & other essential oils are meant to act as a repellent, also burning candles as they give off co2 which attracts the mosquito. I was wondering if burning a citronella candle or oil in an oil burner would be a good idea? Although I have heard that scented candles, air fresheners etc r often advised against use in the same room as your corn. Any thoughts? Still going to look into the garlic tablets but tbh the smell of garlic as opposed to citronella or lavender etc isn't exactly my 1st choice.

This links to a current discussion, where an air freshener seems to have adversely affected a Corn hatchling:

I wouldn't risk any kind of air scenting substance - even a natural one - in the same room as a Corn.

Of course it's your decision, but if you decide to go with it then keep it well away from the snake and keep a very close watch for changes in behaviour, body position and movement.
