moss and allergy

norbert03

norbert and aelfric
hi people, i just have a quick question.

last night i bought moss for my terrariums, not to use as a substrate, but as a background decoration and assistance tool for the shedding process for norb and fric. i had originally planned to put some in a small kritter cage and then place fric in it for a little while in hopes that he would shed, but i decided not to do that unless there's ever a major problem with a the process. so, i put a small amount in one corner of both enclosures and spritzed it. shortly after that i noticed a small rash on my elbow, hive-like bumps. i could be allergic to the moss, but the itchiness continued when i laid down to read and it spread...legs, hands, neck, rumpus (j/k, not the rumpus!). could there be mites in the moss i bought? snake mites wouldn't attack me. . .right? i looked through a large amount of the moss to see if anything was crawling around, but didn't come across anything. has anyone had any sort of problem with moss in the past? should i have baked it before using it? what is the likelihood of it having an infestation of any sort?

it worked like a charm :) fric shed over night and i know he used the moss because that's where i found the skin.
