motley vs. normal pattern

I am having a hard time seeing the difference between the motley pattern, and the normal pattern. Its really easy to tell motleys when they have what looks like a few of their blotches added together. Can anyone help me with the identifying process? Maybe some pictures?
 
Motleys will have a patternless ventral and the saddles on the dorsal side will be somewhat joined together. Normals have separated saddles and a checkered ventral.
 
More so than the elongated saddles in a motley, the easiest way to tell is to flip the snake over.

Motley ventrals are clear; in other words, no belly checkering.

so all motleys have plain ventrals huh? kinda interesting. thanks for the replies, your information helped.

There are currently 3 morphs that have non-checkered bellies...motley, stripe and bloodred/diffuse. You will occasionally see color on the bellies of these morphs, but not checkers. Here are some examples:
