Mouse in house!

Tim66/corns

I have no Accent
O.k. Know I'm a big guy and not afraid of too much but something about a mouse running around my house freaks me out. I have 2 cats & 1 collie & 23 corns. This should be the house of death for this furry %#@*%#* right. But here he is running around my kitchen and I can't get anyone to kill it for me. This is totally unnerving me. Finally one of my cats is taking notice. Though it is my kitten Gizmo. His mother is the better hunter though. My dog on the sofa & couldn't care. Gizmo just chased it under the stove & is keeping watch now. In the morning I better find a body or I'm coming home from work with traps. Poor Gizmo he just let it run by him. I need his mother Penny but I can't wake her up. She just purrs louder. Yeah I'm gonna get a lot of sleep tonight. I wish I could let one of my snakes go Ha Ha after it. Gizmo being a kitten Just let it go again. But the mouses squeaking woke Penny. So the troops are rounded. Mouse back under stove but Penny is on the job know. This is a real play by play. Hopefully the outcome will be the only mice I have are in my freezer and not under my stove. Thank God for cats & snakes. And let sleeping dogs sleep.

Awww good luck! I'm lucky, my dogs and cat go after anything that moves... I hope they get it for you!

It has been about a half hour know & Penny is like a statue starring at the stove. Gizmo tried as best he could to copy his mum but has since grown bored & is asleep know. Libby my collie has slept through this whole thing. On the glue traps Rich I would not know how to keep my pets from being stuck? Will keep yah'll posted on the outcome.

Tim, you totally made me LOL with the visual! I concur with Rich...glue traps are your friend. Slide it under the stove so your other pets won't reach it. I lived in this particular apartment where a pair of mice chewed a hole from the outside to a spot under my lower cabinets. I had no idea they were there until I got a dog. I happened to see this mouse run out, snag a piece of dog food and scramble back under the cabinet. With the traps, I got mom and dad. The next day I came home from work and was greeted by 14 (I counted as I caught them) baby mice zipping all over my apartment. My poor cat was cuddled in the corner with the dog literally quivering from the sudden influx of mice!!! It was crazy!

I won't go into the disgusting details, but I repeat...glue traps are your friends. One of the bad things about them is that it's a slooooow death and they'll literally pull off their feet trying to get off the traps. Be humane and put them out of their misery quickly once trapped if you can.

Good luck!

O.K. Things are happening know. The mouse is trying to climb up the back of the stove & Penny hears it and is on top of the stove know waiting. Gizmo is awake again and is guarding the floor. Libby is still asleep or pretending to be. Me I am not moving till someone gets this little creature. I know I'm bigger but they freak me out. Like I said I only want to see frozen mice. I need more cats many more. Or a good rat terrior. While I am typing this I have a spatula in my hand in case it runs towards me again.

OK Penny just got it and dropped it and of course they always have to run towards me. So I'm know screaming get it! get it! It's running all around me 1 mouse 2 cats & my dog who is finally awake. I am trying to hit it with my broom but it won't die and know they are chasing it in the living room. OMG I feel like I'm on ultimate fighting. This mouse is the one with( lives. It is know under my sofa. It has been caught and dropped like 3 times. My cats are letting me down playing with this thing. My heart is racing and adrenaline pumping. If it should make it under the door to my snake room I am letting some out. Put a towel across the door and see his odds with 23 corns sniffing him out. I have 3 only live eaters that I am still trying in vain to take frozen that would no what to do. Freakin little mouse. I am sleeping with my spatula tonight.

Tim, you totally need a spouse to kill that mouse for you! LOL! But the visual of you in your jammies with your spatula in your hand is so classic. This is my favorite thread of the night! :D

Thanks Lori,
It has been a most interesting night. It is after 12:00 and I am still hiding here on my computer in the kitchen. But the house is quiet. The cats are asleep the dog is asleep again, even the stupid mouse is asleep probably under my sofa. I am going in my room closing the door and shoving a towel under the door. And I am taking the spatula with me to bed. If I hear another chase going on at least I know it can't run at me in here. Twice in one night is all my heart can take. LOL

I can SO relate! I too am deathly afraid of mice. My cat Cyrus caught one that had escaped it's cage(my daughters were raising them for the snakes). He just stood there about 3 feet from me with that darn mouse in his mouth with this look as if he was saying "look mom, look what I caught for you". The poor cat, all I could do was yell at him to go away.
I ended up having to call a friend to come over and find Cyrus(who was under my bed), and dispose of the mouse. I couldn't move outta my chair until after that.

I sure hope your cats take care of it for you, I also hope that's the only one you have!

Good Luck!

So as I come out of my room this morning with my spatula in hand ready for battle if need be. I find the troops in the kitchen (Penny & Gizmo " still watching the stove. Do a quick look around and find no body anywhere. Everything normal dog still on sofa asleep. If nothing else I realize my dog sleeps a lot. lol.
Just before bed last night they managed to get the mouse out from under the sofa & where chasing the squeaking little varmint all around the room. I was trying to hit it with a broom, but to no avail. I figured me man, me big hunter, me kill BIg mouse right. It went more like me man, me try to kill BIG mouse with broom, me shriek cause it keeps running for me, me run out of room. Live to hunt another day. So the score is cats 0, mouse 1, dog useless, & me yelling encouragement from another room. I am off to work & bringing home traps, glue paper, dynamite etc. Anything I can think of to get rid of my furry unwanted blood pressure raising intruder. It would be so great to find a body when I come home.

LOL.. I really feel for ya! Hope your cats do the job for ya before you get home. If you do use snap traps make sure you bait them with peanut butter. No mouse can resist!!..

Good luck.

You are a great storyteller! When I was reading your posts I was picturing every little thing! I hope your cats can get it done!!!!

Great story! I've been reading your posts to my mom. She said it could be worse:

My mom once woke up to find a dead mouse on her pillow. That's how much her cats love her.

OMG, I just nearly died laughing reading this thread, priceless!!!

Tim, you are a great storyteller :) Have you got an update yet, or did you come home to find the mouse beating the cats with your spatula and the dog still fast asleep on the sofa ;)

Good luck, hope you found what you were hoping for!

Well I have been home for a few hours know & knew as soon as I came in the mouse was still here. Dog on sofa sleeping normal. But no cats to greet me. Thats because they are still in front of the stove. Big sigh from me. Just great it's still here. I really wanted this to be over. So set about with my chores. Sunday is feeding day for the snakes. So take care of them, feed dog & cats and start my meal. Nothing special just peanut butter & crackers. I settle in next to my dog on the couch & start looking to see what is on TV. Next thing I know there is a big commotion going on in the kitchen. A lot of squeaking & growling from the cats. I am sitting here thinking just get it over with & wishing I had brought my spatula with me from the kitchen. All of a sudden Penny comes running out with the mouse in her mouth. Yes!! Finally, till I see her heading for my bedroom. Gizmo in hot pursuit. Know she has already caught this creature many times without dispatching of it. And it occurs to me that she is trying to teach her son how to hunt. God I'm thinking I leave the TV on Animal Planet he should know how. Anyway I put my plate down and try to head them off. No way I can sleep if I know that creature is in my room with me. They beat me to my room and I find them fighting over the mouse. Penny gives Gizmo a smack & of course drops the mouse. But hey it's on it's side not moving. Hold it it is moving. It rights itself and runs under my bed. This mouse just won't die. So both cats take off after it and to my surprise & relief Gizmo has it. I was proud of him for a second cause up to this point he would not touch it. His inner cat must have come out. But was glad when he ran out of my room with it. Back to the kitchen, always the kitchen. Gizmo drops it now and he and Penny are playing with it under the table. I mange to grab the broom to protect myself & sure enough it was coming right for me with the stove behind me I was like no way are you going back there. So I closed my eyes and swung. I hit it but it wasn't dead yet. So 5 or 6 more whacks just to make sure. Yes the mouse is finally dead. And I look up to see my cats staring at me like I just cancelled Christmas on them. So I sweep up the mouse glad this is all over. Whew my heart is still racing a bit but that is why I always keep a bottle of Vodka in the freezer right next to the frozen mice & Libby's raw diet. So know I can finally relax for the evening right. So I go back out to the living room to get my plate only to see that the dog ate my crackers while the chase was going on. And of course she is asleep on the couch. Everything normal here again.
