"Must Read" Threads?

Hey all,

Roy's Controversial Topic series prompted me to start this thread. So here it is...
To all you breeders and experienced keepers out there: Which threads, aside from the FAQ, do you consider to be a "must read" for newcomers to the hobby?
To all the newcomers: Which threads, aside from the FAQ, have you found to be most informative.

Please post links to these threads if you can. I look forward to reading them all...twice!

Thanks,
Bill

This is a cool idea for a thread.

I don't have time to hunt down all the threads that I found most useful, but I remember that I used the "advanced search" a lot. I'd select my topic of interest, and a highly trusted user name for the search. So if I wanted to know about incubation, I would select "Hurley" and "Incubation" for the member and key-word search terms. Then I'd go through the search results. :)

Advanced search is the only way to go, IMO. I always select "search titles only" so that the only threads returned are likely to be on the very subject you're searching for. It really helps weed through all the junk that only has an obscure reference to your search word/phrase of interest. Then, you can also select the exact subforum to search to narrow down the results further. It doesn't make much sense to search for "aspen" and have threads in the photo gallery come up as part of your results.
The only time I put in a username to search is if I can remember who started a specific thread that I'm looking for, but Dean's idea sounds very useful.

I can't think of my "must reads" right now, but I'm pretty sure I've got some bookmarked at home (at the lab right now).

Since I know plenty of other people will cover all the regurge, co-hab, and other threads of this type, I would probably recommend the threads like "Building your own rack system", "How to make a rheostat for $7" etc...but I'll come back and edit in the links when I get home, if nobody else gets them before me.:)

Okay, so I decided just to double post to give this a bump :p

These are the threads that I have bookmarked for one reason or another (don't know the usefulness to someone else, but I evidently found them worth keeping for future reference :shrugs: ):

Breeding mice...worth the time, money and effort?
-->Building your own rack system
-->FAQ Sheets from Kathy Love on Housing, Regurges and More
How to make your own rheostat for less than $7
Popping pressure
Egg laying boxes, what do you use? -- A thread I never used but found interesting while doing some research.

I'm sure there are tons more. If I only had the time to search for them :grin01:
