My (06/21/04) Corn thread (will update as i go)

Corn uber Noob
So it's my first snake (not my first reptile) and I'm excited about it, so i thought i'd vent all in one thread.

My tank is a well setup 50gal breeder (36x18x18). It's really big and my lil' bugger is still very small. This is a possible issue and i am thinking of moving her to a smaller enclosure after the 3-4 day acclimation period.
However, tonight she came out of her "shipping hide" for the first time since she was placed in the tank (8 hours ago) and snooped around the cage. She checked out all the various hides (warm and cold), "walked" out the perimeter of the tank, and the last time i looked, she's hiding somewhere other than her "shipping" container.
I take this as a possible good sign. Perhaps her curiosity, combined with corn snake hardiness, will prove that the large tank may not be such a huge issue (excuse the pun).

Cheers,

**UPDATE** 02/03/05

Finished furbishing the tank with extra cold/warm hides, two thermometers, Over tank fluorescent fixture with 3 incandescent outlets. Soon, i'll add the humidity gauge. The tank temp range appears to be 83-72. Not too shabby, eh?

====================
Added vines and fake leaves to the tank. She has been all over the place, exploring every inch of the new "flora". I think she may be too excited for it, since she is ignoring the two LIVE pinkies i added this evening. I hope they are gone by the morning? :-\
