My 2002 Leucistic Texas Rat Female

CornCrazy

What's one more???
This is Eclipse!

That is a cool name! The eye looks like an eclipse. :) Out of curiosity, are you planning on trying to make some leucy corn crosses with her?

Thanks everyone for the compliments!

Chuck, since I no longer have a male leucy, I was considering trying to cross her to a corn...just out of curiosity. I was sure if she was big enough yet, though. She's bigger than some of my female corns that were bred this season, but I was under the impression that rat snakes have to be bigger when they are bred. I think I may try it, though. She is 3 after all.

are you sure that is a leucistic Texas rat? I'm not used to seeing pictures of them with their mouths closed. :grin01:

seriously though, how is her temperament?

she's really pretty

Hehe! Yeah, I don't see many closed mouth pics of them, either. This girl is pretty good! Just don't get between her and a mouse! I had a male to go with her, but he was evil! I need to find a good natured male *sigh*

Chuck...can I steal yours? :grin01:

hi there...i was asking connie what her point of view was on leucys...but i would like to know how it is in the rat snakes and your opinion. are they all really blue eyed or are there some out there with other colors in there eyes like black or red? i have seen some people catagorize any all white snake as leucistic but i dont agree with them. what do you think?

It is my understanding that they are not all blue-eyed. Chuck has a red-eyed one. It is an albino leucistic. I am assuming that his might be the offspring of 2 albino Texas rats that were both het leucistic. That means that his is homozygous albino and leucistic. I would think that leucism can be combined with other colors and therefore could have different color eyes.

As you can see...mine is not actually blue-eyed either. She was purchased as a blue-eyed leucy, however; and her eyes were more blue when she was little.

I do not think all "white" snakes are leucistic, but I could be wrong. I am not an expert in that area.

thanks terri...i was just curious, i want to get as many opinions as i can to hear all sides. you have a beautiful snake there by the way good luck!!!
